Zambia has re-affirmed commitment to maintaining peace and
security on the African continent.
Zambia's High Commissioner to South Africa Major General Jackson
Miti says the country remains committed to the ideals of a peaceful Africa.
He said Zambia would collaborate
with other African countries to ensure that peace was maintained on the
continent.
The High Commissioner re-affirmed
Zambia's commitment during the annual African Heads of Mission meeting held in
Pretoria, South Africa.
He mentioned that peace was
cardinal to every nation, adding that Zambia was looking forward to working
closely with other African countries to see how peace could be fostered on the
continent.
The meeting, chaired by Dean of
Diplomatic Corps Ambassador Bene Lofongo Mpoko from the Democratic Republic of
Congo advocated for an African continent free from civil wars, conflicts and
genocide.
It was attended by over 15
African Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to the Republic of South
Africa.
And South African Deputy Minister
of the International Relations and Cooperation Mashego Dlamini appealed to all
Ambassadors and High Commissioners for continued cooperation and unity.
She said peace and unity could
not hold if not supported by sustainable development.
Ms. Dlamini urged the African
Heads of Mission to work together to ensure that the continent occupied a
visible and impactful role in the maintenance of peace on the continent.
